Born 4th November 1897, Captain Neville Hudson flew with 15 Squadron during 1916. On 30 March 1916, Hudson was awarded the military cross; the citation text recounted how he had pressed on to complete a mission after suffering a serious head wound. In early 1917, Hudson transferred to 54 Squadron as a flight commander flying a Sopwith Pup. On 27 January 1917, Hudson destroyedenemy observation plane . He drove down another observation craft on 13 February. On 5 April, 1917 Hudosn teamed up with reginald Charley, Maurice D \St, and another pilot; thefour pilots became known as Balloon Busters, destroying an observation balloon at Gouy. Hudson went on to drive two more enemy planes down, and destroy another, but on the 13th of July 1917 Captain Frank Neville Hudson was shot down between near Ostend by Jasta 20. London Gazette entry for Military Cross award, 30th March 1916. Second Lieutenant Frank Neville Hudson, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) and Royal Flying Corps. For conspicuous gallantry and skill on several occasions, notably when, although severely wounded in the head, he successfully completed his aerial reconnaissance. After recrossing the line and landing at an aerodrome, he at once lost consciousness. This young officer is only 18 years of age, but has many times driven off enemy machines and twice forced them to the ground.
