Gotha G IVA  German Heavy Bomber of World War One in aviation art prints. The Gotha G IVA  were produced  for strategic bombing a role which had been done with the Zepperlin until their mounting heavy losses.  The Gotha G IVA of Kagohl 3 was the most successful squadron for bombing of England targets. Which kept a number of British Fighters on the home front instead of on the western front where they were desperately needed.

The G.V entered service in August 1917 . The Gotha G.V operated at lower altitude  than the Gotha G. IV due to it be heavier and poor quality fuel prevented the Mercedes D.IVa from operating at its expected 190 kW (260 hp).  In February 1918,  A Compound tail unit and horizontal stabilizers, known as the Kastensteuerung, improved the aircraft's  directional control in single-engine conditions. The  subvariant  G.Va had the new tail as well as a slightly shorter forward fuselage  .   25 G.Va aircraft wewre produced and were delivered to Bogohl  3,  ( Kagohl  3 )

The G.Va  was stopped with the G.Vb now in production, which carried an increased payload and operated at a maximum takeoff weight of 4,550 kg . Idflieg ordered 80 G.Vb aircraft, the first being delivered to Bogohl 3 in June 1918. All 80 aircraft had been completed, by the time the war ended but the last batch did not reach the front and  instead delivered  to the allies.
